So why is it that it's sooo hard to be an adult?

If you are 15 years old, in the United states, you are a child. You can't sign a contract, work any job considered to be dangerous, decide not to go to school, drive a car unescorted, drink a beer, own property or join the Army. Isn't that drag? However, you might ask: Shouldn't there be a simple, straightforward way for kids today to establish that they are mature enough to be treated as a legal adult? Given that kids are maturing so quickly these days, isn't it reasonable that some 15 year-old's might be as, if not more, mature than the average 18 year-old?

It's a reasonable question to ask, and we even have a reasonable answer: Kill someone. That's it, simple as can be. No need to worry about all that complicated stuff, just pull a trigger (really, you hardly have to lift a finger). Shoot someone, make it look a little cold-blooded and your friendly neighborhood District Attorney will be happy to take on the burden of proving that you really ARE an adult. Isn't that nice of him (or her)? Thrown in, at no extra cost to you, will be room and board for the rest of your life (however long or short it may be).

What a bargain! So don't forget, anyone can shoot a gun, but it takes a MAN to kill someone.
